Wine Tasting Evening

Don’t forget to book your place at the Wine Tasting Evening – just £10 a ticket.  Tables will be for 6-8 people so get a table together (invite friends and family) or ask to join others in your Year Group.  Wines for tasting, glasses, spittoons (!), cheese and biscuits will be provided but you may want to bring along some extra drinks and snacks to see you through.  There will also be an auction of fantastic prizes.  If you cannot locate the flier for this event, it is accessible, as always, through the school website.  

PTA Swimming Gala

By now you should have received your application forms in the school bags for the Inter-House Swimming gala.  This is a fun event which swimmers of all abilities can enter.  Apart from the usual ribbons and cups for individual swimmers and the winning House, there is also an award for the House with the most entries into the gala.  Please fill in your forms and return with the £3 entry fee to the school office by Friday this week (as the organisers need time to schedule all the different events and produce the programme of races).  As usual there will be refreshments on sale at the gala and we will be holding a raffle – please bring any unwanted Christmas gifts on the day of the gala which can be put into the raffle.

Pampered Chef Evening

Just under a week to go until our Pampered Chef ‘Ready Steady Cook’ event. There will be a demonstration of Pampered Chef products, a Ready Steady Cook style battle between two St David’s teams of parents and staff (vote for the team that you think produces the best culinary masterpiece following the given recipe and using as many Pampered Chef products as possible), a chance to sample the food produced by the teams and order from the Pampered Chef range.  Up to 15% of all orders will go to the PTA.

Tickets are £5 per person to include a glass of wine and nibbles.  The order form is available on the school website under Resources for Current Parents.

Fireworks at St David’s College

Don’t forget to order your tickets for the St David’s Fireworks Display.  Tickets can be ordered from the school office (£5 per person or £22 for a family ticket admitting 2 adults and up to 4 children) or bought on the gate on the night (£5 per child and £7 per adult).  Please note that due to licensing laws, numbers are limited.  Owing to Beckenham Festival timings, the programme of events has been revised by 15 minutes although the gates will still open at the advertised time (details available from the school office).

A Gentle Reminder!!!

Don’t forget that we have our first two Drop Days for the Christmas Fair on Thursday and Friday (3rd and 4th Nov).

We also need your recipes, your Christmas card orders and your children’s designs for the Christmas card, Recipe Book cover Competition entries and children’s recipe book drawings and anecdotes by this Friday.

Fireworks Night ……..and lots of other PTA “stuff”!

Please check the school bags, as there are quite a few PTA letters coming home for the Half Term holidays:

• Fireworks – as you know, the St David’s College Fireworks Night is on Saturday 12 November and ticket application forms have already been sent home.  There will be a letter in the school bags asking for helpers for this event.  Please have a look to see if you can help in any way as this event is one of the most spectacular in the PTA calendar but does depend for its success on the hard work of the wonderful St David’s parents, friends and staff.
• Christmas may seem a long way off, but it’s time to get your children designing their very own Christmas cards.  A letter about this will be coming home this Friday, and designs need to be back by Tuesday 1st November.
• We have two exciting new PTA initiatives this year – a St David’s College Recipe Book and a St David’s College Calendar.  For the recipe book we are looking for some fabulous recipes, some drawings and food anecdotes and some front cover designs.  Letters about these are in the school bags and once again we need all contributions back by 1st November (or 2nd November for the Recipe Book Cover competition).

AGM and Quiz Night – Saturday 1 October 7.45p.m.

As in previous years, the short (but important) AGM will be followed by a Quiz Evening which this year is brought to us by a new Quiz Team made up of Bill Malyszko, Pete Wilson and Huw Davies (Year 4).  The ticket price of £10 covers a fish and chip supper (or vegetarian alternative) and a donation to the Oast House Trust charity.

Get a team together or join other parents from your year group (maximum of 10 to a team) or just put your name down and we’ll arrange a table for you – it’s a great way to get to know other parents in the school.  Bring some nibbles and your own drinks and come and enjoy the first big social event of the PTA calendar 2011/2012.
